Avize, Côte des Blancs

Champagne Lancelot & Fils is a family story spanning four generations, rooted in the chalk soils of Avize on the Côte des Blancs. It was Jean Lancelot who set the wheel in motion in the 1930s, working as a mobile distiller before cultivating his own vines on the terroir of Cramant. His grandson Daniel built the estate further in the 1960s, constructing a house in Cramant and hand-digging a chalk cellar capable of holding 200,000 bottles. Claude Lancelot, Daniel's son, founded Champagne Lancelot Goussard in Avize in 1981, marketing under the Lancelot Fils name.

Today the estate is led by Hubert Lancelot, who took full ownership of the Lancelot Fils brand in 2015 and has since dedicated himself to building a new generation of terroir-driven cuvées. His vineyards span eight distinct terroirs: Grand Cru Chardonnay from Cramant, Oiry, and Chouilly; Pinot Noir from the Aube; Meunier and rare forgotten varieties (Arbanne, Petit Meslier, Pinot Blanc) from Mardeuil; and parcels in Villeneuve and Épernay.

In the cellar, Hubert avoids malolactic fermentation and filtration on his parcel-based cuvées, working with a thermo-regulated facility and traditional chalk caves that provide ideal conditions for a slow, natural ageing. The estate holds both HVE and Viticulture Durable en Champagne certifications. Lancelot & Fils is champagne with depth, diversity, and a living connection to its land.
