Collection: Bruyen
Reims (Passy-Grigny & Marfaux)
The story of Champagne Bruyen is one of persistence, ingenuity, and family grit. Its origins trace back to around 1850, but it was in the 1920s that the first Bruyen bottles were produced. Then came the Second World War: rather than surrender their production to occupying forces, the family buried their champagne at the bottom of the garden. After the Liberation, the recovered bottles became the starting point for a journey that has since become legend, travelling to Paris by bicycle, 120 kilometres each way, to sell their champagne.

In 2018, that history was given new shape when Grégory Bruyen merged the Bruyen family's Passy-Grigny estate with the Macquart & Filles estate from Marfaux, creating Champagne Macquart & Bruyen. Grégory had grown up immersed in the trade, went on to work in viticulture and oenology across multiple estates, and eventually built his own operation before uniting these two century-old family legacies.
Today Grégory leads the estate with a commitment to environmentally responsible viticulture and an adventurous approach to winemaking, always underpinned by the values his family has carried since those legendary wartime bicycle rides: hard work, generosity, and a genuine love of champagne.
