The Odyssey starts with a walk around Avize, to fully understand the identities that this single Grand Cru village reveals. The first day focuses on Le Levant: the rising-sun side of Avize, facing south, where plots in the middle and bottom of the hillside are often very ripe and early in terms of maturity. Le Levant's exposure frequently produces a beautiful roundness in the wines. This is the southern, sunlit face of Avize, warm, generous and profound, made from the 2014 vintage, a year that showed a sweet evolution that keeps on improving with time.
Tasting notes: Le Levant's side often produces a beautiful roundness. The 2014 vintage shows a sweet evolution that keeps on improving with plenty of time. Structured and generous on the palate, with a minty finish that lingers.
Food pairing: A champagne of depth and generosity. Excellent with fine fish, roasted poultry, veal sweetbread and aged soft-rind cheeses.
