Verzy & Verzenay, Montagne de Reims - Grand Cru

Champagne Lepreux-Penet is one of the oldest estates in the Champagne region, with a viticultural heritage stretching back to 1660. Its vineyards are located in Verzy and Verzenay, two Grand Cru villages on the northern flank of the Montagne de Reims, both certified organic.

This is a house driven by a deeply holistic philosophy. The winemaking approach combines biodynamic farming, working with cosmic and terrestrial rhythms to strengthen vine vitality, with a cellar practice of extraordinary patience. Wines age for a minimum of four years on their lees in 19th-century chalk crayères carved 18 metres into the hillside, with the most prestigious millésimés resting for over ten years. The resulting champagnes are celebrated for their intense, layered aromatics and rare depth.

Lepreux-Penet adds one further element that makes it unlike any other house: its champagnes are aged to the sound of Bach, played continuously in the cellars. The producers believe that the vibrations of the music interact with the wine during its long maturation, amplifying aromatic complexity in ways that cannot be explained by conventional winemaking alone. Whether science or poetry, the wines speak for themselves. Bottles are decorated with the Flower of Life, a symbol of sacred geometry that the house uses as an emblem of harmony and vitality.
