Collection: Cazals

Champagne Cazals is a family-owned champagne house located in the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. The house was founded in 1897 by Ernest Cazals, a cooper from the Languedoc region who fell in love with Champagne. He brought his winemaking knowledge to the region and established the estate, which has since been passed down through generations.

The vineyards of Champagne Cazals are primarily planted with Chardonnay, the hallmark grape of the Côte des Blancs, known for producing refined and elegant Blanc de Blancs champagnes. The house is particularly renowned for its Grand Cru vineyards, including a unique walled vineyard, or "Clos," called Clos Cazals, located in Oger, which produces some of their most exceptional wines.

In the mid-20th century, Ernest's grandson, Claude Cazals, continued to grow the estate, focusing on quality and innovation. Claude is credited with inventing the "gyropalette," a mechanical device used for riddling (the process of rotating champagne bottles during secondary fermentation), which revolutionized champagne production.

Today, Champagne Cazals is run by Claude’s daughter, Delphine Cazals, who upholds the family tradition while adding her own modern touch. She focuses on crafting champagnes that express the unique terroir of their Grand Cru vineyards, with an emphasis on sustainable and environmentally friendly viticulture.

Champagne Cazals is particularly known for its Blanc de Blancs champagnes, made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. These wines are celebrated for their finesse, minerality, and aging potential, with the Clos Cazals cuvée being a standout.

With over a century of history, Champagne Cazals remains a respected name in the region, producing elegant, terroir-driven champagnes enjoyed by connoisseurs worldwide.
